It’s hard to believe it’s 2022.
While it’s been a whirlwind of activity, I’m happy to say 2021 saw us pass through the last of the hurdles 2020 threw at us. We are now stronger and more capable than we have ever been.
2021 saw the separation of StoreConnect from reinteractive. StoreConnect is now running as it’s own company at getstoreconnect.com working hard to provide the world’s most powerful eCommerce solution for Small to Medium Business.
This separation was also an important move for reinteractive, allowing us to focus on delivering our top level rails development and hosting by removing a business unit that wasn’t fully aligned to our core competency.
Doubling down on our custom development and hosting lets us concentrate on the strengths that made reinteractive the best rails development agency in APAC.
When I started reinteractive 12 years ago I wanted a 100% remote team - a company formed on what I felt was my ideal working environment. I didn’t know that our remote work foundations would help us work through a worldwide pandemic, emerging stronger than before, and with no related disruptions - but I am happy it did.
I am incredibly proud of the team and the amazing projects they are smashing out. From our Design team, helping clients visualise and their digital visions, through our amazing developers delivering 2400 new features for clients last year. And of course our CodeCare and OpsCare teams - the glue that keeps the ship afloat.
2021 also saw us increase our development team by 30%.
reinteractive has always taken pride in how we empower our developers and encourage them to voice their opinions and help clients achieve intended outcomes. In line with this, we took the opportunity to tweak our organisational structure internally, to give a better voice internally to every member of the team and make their employment more enjoyable and productive.
The future is also looking very bright. Ruby continues to evolve and is more powerful than ever. Rails version 7 was also released and promises a bright future for the framework. Few other frameworks have enjoyed the longevity of Rails and certainly none have evolved as radically as Rails, under the leadership of the Core team. I’m incredibly proud of the small part I played when creating the Ruby Mail gem 12 years ago and am as excited as ever to the future of Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
To all reading this, thank you for travelling with us on this wonderful journey and I look forward to many more years of combined success!
