Originally from Byron Bay, my mother is a web designer from the early days, so I started creating my first websites on things like GeoCities when I was a kid. While I may not look it, I’ve always been the nerdy, shy kid who spent most of my younger years sitting in front of a computer.¬† Always loved technology and had creative pursuits, got very into digital illustration and design at a young age - my sense of design evolved from there.

Throughout high school I ran various websites and forums, mostly relating to pixel art and design, so while some of my design experience has been dedicated to print and illustration, web has always been at the forefront for me.

I studied Digital Design at university at the Queensland College of Arts, and branched into motion graphics and animation from there. I love everything creative and I love challenges, so I’m a bit of a jack of all trades at times - that said, I’d like to think I’m a master of quite a few also.¬†

I started out working as a freelance illustrator and print designer through the end of high school and university, where I was fairly successful. Spent a year or so traveling the world and have been working mostly in print and web design ever since. I’ve largely worked with PHP and Javascript in the past, but discovered Ruby on Rails about 2 years ago and love the whole community and industry, and how much it encourages innovation.¬†

I also have a pretty extensive background in motion graphics and animation, where I worked for a post-production studio of advertising, television and feature films - you’d be surprised how much the film and web industry and merging these days, so it’s definitely a valuable intersection of industries.
