We've held our fourth InstallFest
Last night our fourth InstallFest was a huge success, with over 30 new developers and mentors coming along to Fairfax Media to learn all about Ruby on Rails.
Our awesome mentors Tim Hemi, Geoff Hodgson, Greg McIntyre and Mikel Lindsaar helped our newbies along the way as they built and launched their first Ruby on Rails applications on the worldwide web! Mikel once again gave an impressive talk, telling our newbies all they need to know to get started with Rails.
You can check out all of last night’s photos on our Facebook Gallery.
We have now had eighty new developers setup with Rails and working on our “15 minute blog” tutorial series. We are due to hit one hundred attendees next month and to celebrate we are running a Blog to Win Competition and are asking all InstallFest attendees to send us their RoR blog URL’s for their chance to win!
We had a great time at last night’s event and so did our new developers. Here is what some of them had to say:
"A really good idea and really helpful for anyone looking to learn Ruby and generally improve their knowledge." - Russell Verbeek
“Great, well run. Love the pizza! Being a Network Nngineer, I know little about programming. Ruby is great and I learned plenty in 3 hours.” - Matthew Hoffman
“Tonight was fun and I want to learn more.” - Talyssa Soto
“I thought it was great, fun, friendly and informative. I will definitely recommend it.”
“Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks very much for a great night of learning and pizza!”
“It was a very good start. Looking forward to more”
