Last night Mikel Lindsaar volunteered his time at General Assembly’s free ‘Introduction to the Sydney Ruby on Rails Community’ evening event. The Ruby on Rails Community is amazingly giving, enthusiastic and eager to share their passion for Rails. So, this was a great opportunity to let others know the best places to go to experience this awesome culture and meet some of the great people in the Community.

Mikel shared his personal experience with the Rails Community inviting attendees to come along to the many Community meetups, including InstallFest, Development Hub and RoRo Sydney, as well as less frequent events such as RailsCamp, RailsGirls and Ruby Conferences. He also gave attendees some tips on where they can get some online help while learning including the reInteractive InstallFest tutorial series, Ruby Koans, Rails Tutorials and many more.

We’ve received some awesome Feedback from the class, Bradly Swart sharing:

“It was great that Mike could give some of his time up for the community, I thought I knew all the community spots but I still learnt a thing or two :)”

Like most of our Community, we’re excited to keep sharing everything we know about Ruby, Rails and our Community. Our Developer Leonard Garvey will be heading to GA on Friday to give participants a feel for ‘A day in the Life of a Ruby on Rails Developer’ and our team will be attending RailsGirls events around Australia next weekend!

If you’d like any more information about the Community, please let us know! You can also find all of our initiatives on the Events page on our web site.
